Since 2001, The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) document MDHS 100 has been the principal source of guidance for conducting asbestos surveys. The document gave guidance on undertaking surveys, recording information and assessing asbestos containing materials. However, there was limited information on planning surveys or how the information should be used for managing asbestos. As a result the updated guidance document HSG 264 ‘Asbestos: The Survey Guide’ replaced MDHS 100 at the end of January 2010.
