ALcoday May 28th: EU Landfill Directive

Due to the meanwhile well known and by success prolonged ALcodays we create added value for our customers. On May 28th another seminar was organized, this time with topic EU Landfill Directive.

As published in the Staatscourant (600, 13-11-2008) the new EU Landfill Directive will be applicable as of coming July the 16th. To anticipate in the need of information concerning this topic ALcontrol Laboratories has chosen to present all facts in a clarifying manner, this in cooperation with A&G Milieutechniek en Afvalzorg N.V.

The seminar started with a short introduction by John Nihot, Commercial Manager Netherlands. The first speaker of the day was Wim Aarnink, Head Waste materials East of A&G Milieutechniek. Aarnink also a member of the accompanying comity at VROM for the implementation of Annex II of the Landfill Directive gave a clear explanation of the base caracterisation of the to deposit waste. Next was Jaap-Willem Hutter, Business Development Manager ALcontrol, to deepen the matter. Subjects as current regislation, how to deposit waste within the EU and adjustments to the sample taking protocol were only a few of the topics discussed. At this point ALcontrol Laboratories is the only laboratory accredited for the analysis of grain shaped waste materials under paragraph SB-Bm/Bssa applicable within the EU.

Also present amongst our customers were several waste managers. The reactions afterwards were very positive and the seminar was experienced as very valuable and informative. After lunch the day was closed with a tour on the laboratory. As well as ALcontrol as the attendees look back on a successful seminar.
