Team Leaders - Rotherham
ALcontrol is one of the largest laboratory services business in Europe, with operations in the UK, Benelux, Sweden and Ireland. ALcontrol Food laboratories provide a full range of microbiological and chemical tests, providing fast and efficient analysis to companies within the food industry, and are UKAS group accredited to ISO 17025.
We are currently recruiting for two Team Leaders to work within the Food Microbiology laboratory at Aspen Court, Rotherham. These roles will support the current Team Leaders, with focus being on productivity and quality.
Post 1 – Sunday to Wednesday
Post 2 – Wednesday to Saturday
Both roles will involve evening working during the week days.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the day to day supervision of the laboratory along with other Team Leaders.
• Prioritising workloads and allocation of tasks within the work area.
• Ensuring productivity targets are met, without compromising quality standards.
• Supervising and approving the quality of work and data produced by Technicians and Microbiologists in the work area.
• Organising and responsible for the maintenance of all work records and filing systems specific to the work area.
• Implementing all procedures concerned with quality control and quality assurance for the work area and to ensure that all staff are trained in and conform to the requirements.
• Training and supervising technicians and microbiologists in methods and procedures, and maintenance of training records.
• Line management responsibility for a team, performing routine performance and development review meetings, including probationary reviews, Personal Development Plans, return to work interviews, absence reviews and performance management meetings.
• Assist in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives including 5S and Lean.
• Performing general duties within the microbiology and pathogen laboratories as required.
Qualifications/ Experience:
Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of a food laboratory operation, usually acquired through a minimum of three years laboratory experience. An ability to work to tight deadlines and multi-task, along with a flexible approach to working hours is required. People management experience or qualification desirable, but not essential. The successful applicant will have natural people skills, be an excellent communicator and have the ability to motivate and develop a team. Excellent IT skills required, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Laboratory Information Systems.
